Good news for beer-loving travelers: The Flying Saucer is landing at DFW Airport next year.
Two new restaurants will bring additional dining and entertainment options to DFW International Airport’s Terminal D next year. Upscale pan-Asian restaurant Shinsei and gastropub The Flying Saucer will open locations inside the airport in 2018.
Shinsei, which has its main location on Inwood Road, is known for its fresh sushi and seafood selection. It also serves hot dishes like short rib potstickers, beer, wine, sake and cocktails. The successful restaurant was started by Lynae Fearing and Tracy Rathbun, the former and current wives of renowned chefs Dean Fearing and Kent Rathbun respectively.
Shinsei will fit right in among the array of celebrity chef-backed restaurants in Terminal D, which include Kent Rathbun’s Abacus and Whitetail Bistro, Italian Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck and Stampede 66 Express by Stephan Pyles.
Fort Worth-based beer emporium The Flying Saucer is also bringing buzz to DFW Airport with the news of its new location. The gastropub, which has 16 outposts across the country, is expected to open near gate 21 in Terminal D. The Flying Saucer inside of DFW will offer a wide range of beers on draft, including plenty of local craft beers, and food to go along with the brews. The Airport outlet will be the first Flying Saucer to serve breakfast.
Interestingly, the two-story restaurant will feature an upstairs lounge area dubbed Flying Square. The mezzanine level will have spots to hang out and a nook for hosting live music. Catching a concert in the airport may seem unusual, but many airports are picking up on the live entertainment trend. With the Texas Music Project and the City of Dallas setting up a live music stage at Love Field Airport last year, it was about time that DFW hopped on the bandwagon.
